The Nova Classic is an 18 hole foursome team scramble with special effects and prizes. ![]() Designed by Bill Newcomb in 1976, the Travis Pointe course has hosted a U.S. Open qualifier, the Michigan State Amateur, and other state tournaments. ![]() Fairways vary in width and thickness of tree-lines. Water hazards (twenty ponds and four streams) come into play on all holes except two. The terrain is mostly hilly, but some of the fairways are flat. ![]() The signature hole is #1, a par 4, featuring five sand bunkers in the middle of the fairway. ![]() Hole #4 is the number one handicap, a par 5 hole tree lined with accuracy off the tee as a premium. The green is guarded with water in front and on the left side. Par is a good score.
The narrow par 4 hole #11 has OB on both the left and right off the tee shot. The golfer is faced with a short iron and a definite birdie chance. A pond protects the right front of the green.
Hole #18 is a beautiful finishing hole that is risk or reward on the second shot. The hole has a stream down the right side that turns into a pond next to the green. Golfers can end a round with a birdie if they can negotiate the trouble along the way. Directions to Travis Pointe From I-94 follow Ann Arbor-Saline Road south to the 3-way flashing traffic signal (about 4 miles). Turn left at stop sign (still on Ann Arbor-Saline Road). Turn left at next light (about 400 yards) on Travis Pointe Road.
